Like many of us, I was raised by people of faith. Mama was a member of her church for 60+ years. Dad’s father was a pastor. My grandmothers were faithful to the Lord and to their church. You’d think I’d have been a better kid what with all that prayer and all.
Maybe they were just praying that hedge about me. I’m thankful for that.
I believe that we are born with a purpose that God has designed just for us. Now, I wasn’t saved as a kid but I do think that it was because of this purpose that by His mercy, I was protected until I was. By then I was nearly 40. I can’t know that to be true but I would rather think it was Him than just luck. Luck is reserved for games of chance. My life has been anything but luck. If you know you know.
Here’s what I came to realize. If I wanted my life to change, it’d be me who would have to make a move. See, the power for change was always in my hand. So I chose…to step into His.
Many of the folks that I know or have known, have yet to find this purpose that I’m speaking of. The one that was so divinely prepared before their birth and tucked away just waiting for them to find it. It’s there. All they have to do is move toward it.
I pray that for them every day!
God’s mercy will take us to grace and this is something that few experience much less receive the chance to walk in. The Bible says, “For many are called, but few are chosen.” I am confident that every day now, God directs my purpose.
Have a great Thanksgiving.
