The Unopened Door

Heard this morning: “Goliath is not where you are today. He is where you want to be.”

That’s the key to an unopened door.

This isn’t the direction the speaker was taking, but it’s where the thought took me.

Why, when I am where I am today, should I be afraid? The Lord did not give me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. A sound mind reminds me that while I may not control every circumstance, I do control my responses and reactions to them.

The trepidation comes when we begin moving toward something new.

Ah, that’s where Goliath is.
But what is Goliath, really?

Watch this.

Often, he is nothing more than imagination.

You think that’s impossible? Then read the promises of God’s Word. His children are not forgotten. His seed does not beg for bread. They are forgiven. They are sustained.

Jesus said in Matthew 28, “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Don’t let what you see fool you. The God you serve is able.

Governments have fallen under His hand. Eyes have been opened. Fires have burned without consuming. Chains have been broken.

The oil of the anointed never runs dry.

The door has already been unlocked.

If Goliath shows up today, we’ll deal with him today.

But until then, I will trust what God has already given me.
