Weekly Encouragement

4/27/25

written by Frank Gupton

Don't waste  energy worrying when you are feeling stressed whether you can cope with the situation 's that you are facing or not.  Because you belong to Him.  He will bless you with His Peace,  that will lift you up!  Psalm 29:11 "The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace."

In Genesis 3, there at v. 10-11, Adam says he is naked and God asks, “Who told you that?”

God gave Adam the chance to tell the truth. Instead, Adam put it on Eve. God gave Eve the chance to tell the truth. Eve put it on the snake.
God didn’t ask the snake. The snake did what snakes do.

So, back to Adam…(But first this note of encouragement needs context). I have spoken to our church on more than one occasion, railing against negative self-talk i.e., “I’m not good enough, smart enough, strong enough…” Well, this morning while out on a run, a preacher that I listen to, (Yes, I need to hear from the Word too), talked about this passage from Genesis 3.

See, God asked Adam who told him that he was naked. God knew that it wasn’t He who told Adam. God knew what He had said to Adam.

So where did it come from? God knew that answer too. The enemy.

Let me tell you something believing brother or sister. Don’t be Adam. If you’ll listen to the Lord, you’ll never hear that you are less deserving, less smart, less strong, less beautiful, less good or able than anyone else. You will hear that through the power of Jesus, you possess all the power and authority that you need to be as much as you want to be. All you have to do is accept it and then, live in it.

Jesus said in Matthew 16, “…I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Stop listening to the world. Snakes do what snakes do. Listen for the voice of God as it speaks to you through His word.

This word gives you the authority to unlock all that is found in His will for you.
Now, go get it!

In sports, a good coach doesn’t always look to avoid the opposing team’s strengths so much as to take advantage of their weaknesses. The Bible says if we’ll resist our enemy and he will flee. Running ain’t resisting.

Sometimes the enemy goes after those who surround success. Even the greatest running back is found weak if his blocker is not as good or better than he is.
Your enemy will mount an offense, attacking the weakness that you have given place to in your life. It’s more than temptation. It has a face. When God wants to bless us, He sends a person. When Satan wishes to curse us, he sends a…person, too.

Even while God is hard at work defending you against them, there could actually be one or more, who is blocking the great purpose that He has planned for your life.

But what the enemy does not know is that the One who blocks for you is in fact greater and stronger than you are. And once the assault is recognized, the Lord can use it as a means to secure victory by using the arrogance of the enemy against him and by that, he is thusly defeated.

In life, weakness is exploited as a means to an end. Don’t let it be you. The Bible says that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Paul said that he, “…will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” I believe it. God has healed my weaknesses and destroyed my enemies too many times.

Believer, your weakness may be any of a number of things. Don’t worry about what “they” say. You keep fighting for you do not fight alone.

We must always be ready to stand in defense of our faith and the reason for the hope that is within us. For if we do not, that which we fail to destroy will ultimately, destroy us.
