I was reading this morning where in the Proverbs, “…wisdom is personified as a woman who has much to offer—including “enduring wealth and prosperity” and “life”—to anyone who would heed her words.”
So, with the thought in mind that folks are losing their sense of humor around some things, I guess it would be understandable to wonder what wisdom and a laugh, have to do with anything. Much less, each other.
Well, I went to Proverbs 31 and read this in reference to the good wife, “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.”
I see that as a person who is confident in who they are while not taking themselves too seriously. Folks take care not to mistake their benevolence as weakness.
Proverbs 31 is an encouragement for strong Christian women but there is a lot to be learned from these verses for anyone who wants to build godly character. When your character is grounded in the fear of the Lord, it changes how you live. It changes how you work. It changes the way you think. It changes the way you feel. It changes the way you praise. It changes the way you worship.
Who doesn’t want that?
I want to encourage you all to read
Proverbs 31 as you settle in for the night.
