So what do we think of people who want to “use” the name of Jesus?
That is not a question of judgment. It is a question of how a person can be so bold as to inject the name of Jesus when it suits but to otherwise use bad language, talk about folks disparagingly, and just generally live as if everyone should be okay with it.
Galatians 6, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”
Whenever…listen to me…whenever THAT sin…that one that always pulls you back…that one that capitalizes the largest portion of your life to the point that it overshadows your faith, brings you to talk yourself into the fact that God’s favor in the good times will somehow cancel out those times where THAT sin takes you out.
So, what are you sowing? It’s not your faith that is driving people from your life. It’s THAT. It’s not your faith that angers your spouse or causes your business to fall off. It’s THAT. It’s not your faith that makes you greedy, envious and proud. It’s THAT.
Your faith is hidden by THAT.
Don’t believe it? You are not being true to yourself. “Well, I can’t help it.” Then, get someone to help you.
Sin is the ultimate extrovert. It is outgoing and overly expressive. It capitalizes you every day. It has an attitude of “I’m grown and I’ll do what I want to do.”
It…whatever IT is… must be abandoned. If it is abandoned, it will starve. If it’s starved, it will die. The cycle begins when you stop feeding it.
Stay with that good thing and don’t worry. Don’t give up. Harvest time is coming!
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
