May be an image of table and text that says 'Come to the Table'

Let’s talk about God’s dinner table a minute.

I’d say that it is a sacred place, set apart from that which is ugly and ordinary. It’s a special place. We have to consider that there are certain people who will have a seat there. Now there’s room for us all. Sadly though, many will be asked but will refuse the invitation.

In Psalm 15, David tells us who is invited to God’s dinner table. The Bible says it’s “He who walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart; he who does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but he honors those who fear the Lord; he who swears to his own hurt and does not change; he who does not put out his money at usury, nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.”

Did you see that last verse? You won’t have to set your Bible there to keep your place or ask your spouse to save you a seat. He said you can’t be moved!!!

These are the very same folks that we would desire at our own table. The dining table is a symbol of family, community, and faithful presence. But sometimes, we really don’t know who’s going to come by. We have to trust what we see. God knows what He’s getting because those invited to His table have done as instructed by Jesus when He said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments … He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me … If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”
-John 14

Can I tell you? It won’t be long and the table will be set. Are you ready to sit down?
