“Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut. 20 The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless.

21 The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense.”
-Proverbs 10:19-21 NLT

How do mature people not know this?

Words must be measured for how they will edify the listener or, in the case of social media, the reader.
“Well, I’m grown. I say what’s on my mind.” Yeah you do! That’s why you’ve only got about three friends and one of them is your mirror.

Solomon tells us that too much talk will lead us to do things that are ungodly, part of our old nature, like lying, stealing from another’s work, murder in the heart.

Experience teaches hard truth without many second chances. Measure what you say that it lands softly. Salt them a bit.

Never know when you might have to eat them.
