When they want you to think they’ve got it together, it may be all that they can do to hold it together.

“…if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
-2 Chronicles 7:14
I love this verse for many reasons one of which is found in how it tells us what God is looking for in a submitted life. Not only that, it tells us what we can look forward to in return.
First, God wants us to humble ourselves. We do this by simply saying, “This is on me Lord. Can’t blame you for where I am. I didn’t ask You how to get here.”
Then, He wants us to pray. When we pray, we tell Him that we wish to mend the brokenness in our relationship with Him asking, “Lord, what must I do to have Your trust returned to me?” He desires that we seek His face continually that we may lead a righteous life. Finally, He desires that we turn our lives around. A changed life begins in a mind that has been renewed and a heart that had been transformed.
Then He promises that He will hear us. The good Father that He is, I think His ear’s perk up when He hears from His children. He will forgive. Matter of fact, He wants to. It is we who are the hindrance. When I think of healing our land, I like to think that this promise can apply to us in our health if course, but also, at home, on our jobs, in our churches, our communities and our nation.
Don’t get it twisted. A big church and a great pastor though important, mean nothing without the right spirit. Could this be where we are today? Is this the love that we need today? This OT truth brings it right back to the believer. Full assurance in the Lord and His divine word changes things and a changed life brings results.
Be faithful to Him. He will be faithful to you.
